The Workflow
One Human.
An Army of Agents.
Sourdaw is a solo mission, but I don't work alone. In the 10+ years I've been working in software engineering, I've always done a little bit of music production on the side. AI gives me the chance to build a DAW that I've always wanted, and control everything about it, tuning it to my own liking.
Sourdaw is an attempt to to consolidate the best features of every major DAW with deep research and analysis then build the best-of-many-worlds solution for every problem DAWs face.
The Human at the Center
Agents should be nested within carefully calculated human decision making. I designed the foundation, set the rules of the game. My job is to ensure every agent plays strictly by those rules. This is what guarantees a high degree of quality and cohesion.
01. The Deep Dive
I use a specialized squad of agents to research every crumb of information on a feature. Whether it's a plugin architecture or a timeline engine, they synthesize hundreds of sources: published research and docs, user reviews, forums, and your innermost thoughts.
02. The Specification Layer
That research is fed into a bureaucrat agent that converts the findings into an exhaustive technical spec sheet. This spec is then converted into actionable tasks by a developer agent—all strictly conforming to the rules I define.
03. Parallel Implementation
I use a specialized mix of different models, each audited thoroughly to find exactly what it excels at. These implementation agents are assigned specific tasks and work in parallel against the rock-solid spec, ensuring we build complex sub-systems without producing a single line of slop.
04. Constant Safeguards
Everything goes through a gauntlet. Aggressive audits, strict safety guards, and extensive testing ensure zero-slop code. If it isn't fast, clean, and reliable, it doesn't make it into the repo.
05. The Ear Test
Finally, there's me. I am Sourdaw's first user. I test every the best I can. If it doesn't feel right to me, it doesn't ship. If I like it, maybe you will too.
The Force Multiplier
This isn't "vibe coding"; it is a rigorous process. I leverage AI as a force multiplier to achieve what normally takes a full studio team, but the vision and the technical constraints are entirely mine.
